Ragged 2wice: Story

Working Title: “Ragged 2wice”

Genre: Teen Drama

Story: Kamran was on his way to college. It was his first day of college and he was quite nervous because he had heard different rumors about the college and its history with ragging. He was thinking about it in his mom's car as she was driving him off to college. Kamran is a shy and nervous young man and it is one of the reasons why he had the fear of being ragged.

His mom encouraged him for his first day at college, as he got out of the car on reaching his destination. Kamran walked in through the college gates. He reached the main corridor of the college campus, anxiously looking for the notice board with the list of new students with their classes and sections but was denied by the rush of all the new comers. However, something else captured his attention in the corridor. Almost all the students wearing uniforms had some sort of spray cans or paints or water balloons in their hands and they seemed to be observing the new comers as a predator observes its prey. His fear grew.

He made his way to the washroom to wash his face and shake the fear off. He tried not to think about being ragged as he bent down to splash some water on his face. But when he lifted his face up, he found three boys in uniforms standing behind him in different positions. One of them who seemed to be the leader asked Kamran if he was new in the college, in a cynical way. Kamran tried to get out of the washroom, but one of them grabbed him by the collar and they stopped him from leaving the washroom and the leader took out a bottle of black paint from a bag and rubbed it on Kamran's face, and then one of the guys strapped a tutu around his waist. The other two guys picked him up and took hold of his arms while the leader told him that they want him to dance. Kamran disagreed to so the leader posed two options in front of him, that he could either do the dance and get over with it or face them (the bullies) for his entire college year and with that they were about to leave when Kamran decided to do the dance and this pleased the bullies.

They took Kamran to the back alley then, a place where students were always less likely to come. One of the guys from the group took out a cell phone and got into a position to shoot Kamran dancing. The leader urged him to dance and not having a clue of what to do, Kamran started to dance. The way he danced showed that he did not know how to dance at all. The guys made the video and continuously laughed at Kamran throughout the dance and as soon as they were done, they just walked away, leaving Kamran in the back alley. Kamran felt awful and with that feeling he went to the washroom again to wash up. After cleaning himself up, Kamran looked at the list of students in the corridor and checked his time-table. On finding his class and period, Kamran looked for his class room and discovered that a teacher was already teaching. With the permission of the teacher, he entered the class. He looked for a seat and sat down and took a pen and register out from his bag. He began to concentrate on the lecture that the teacher was giving, but then got distracted by a guy sitting right behind him who put an empty cigarette pack in his shirt through his collar. Kamran reached inside his shirt through his collar and took the empty cigarette pack out, not knowing of it till he saw it. The teacher also noticed the strange activity and approached to deal with the matter. Assuming that Kamran was the smoker, he took him to the principal's office.

Kamran stood in the principal's office. Thoughts of all the bad things that had happened throughout the day were going on his head. The principal broke the silence in the room, telling Kamran about the policy of the college for students who break the rules. Kamran had been a good student in academics and followed the rules all his life, and he pleaded with the teacher and the principal, explaining to them that he had never smoked a cigarette in his life. The principal argued that he had no proof whether the person sitting behind him had put the cigarette pack in his shirt, and with that, the principal picked up the pen and Kamran, feeling that his world had just been shaken started to plead with the principal not to expel him. As he was pleading, the principal stopped and began to tell Kamran to wake up. The teacher also began to say the same thing and they kept on saying this. Kamran found it hard to understand what is going on and was confused. The voice of the principal and the teacher transformed into the voice of Kamran's mom as he found himself in his mom's car and realized that he had been dreaming all this time.

She told him that college was here and that he had fallen asleep. Kamran grabbed his bag and got out of the car door. His mom encouraged him for his day as he got out. Kamran stood in front of the college gate and stared at it for a couple of seconds. Then he thought that nothing was real and everything he saw was dream. With that thought he entered the college gates and found his way to the corridor and searched for the list of new students. Kamran pushed among the crowd to see the list and found his class and section and made his way out of the crowd. After that, he started looking for his class room. While he was looking for his class room, he heard voices in the corridor that were similar to some from his dream. He looked around but did not find anyone familiar. Thinking that it was all a dream and ignoring the hint, Kamran continued to look for his class. But he met the leader of the bully gang from his dream just as he walked two steps further. The leader put his hand on Kamran's shoulder and asked him if he was new in college. Kamran recognized the voice and turned around. He screamed from frustration on seeing the bully leader.
